OCTOBER
Dear philoptochos Members,
I hope that each of you is enjoying the shift into the crisper fall weather as we prepare to spend more time focusing our efforts within our community. It has been so nice to see the children return to their Sunday School classrooms, as well as to witness the growth of all the other activities of the initiatives in our parish. As Philoptochos, we are always forward-thinking and there seems to be an endless stream of ways we can make a difference.
We are a network that looks out for each other, and to this end, we have some wonderful special projects and programs ahead. We are optimistic that each of you will participate as much as your schedules will allow in the weeks of October.
medicare seminar
As nurturers, it is important for us to remember that we must also invest time and care into our own health and well-being, as well as that of our friends. We are fortunate to have experts among us that can guide us through the complex web of best medicare strategies. Please plan to join us this Thursday, October 10th @ 12 NOON for a FREE seminar conducted by Nikki Parker and a delicious lunch provided by Pete’s Central One courtesy of Oak Street Health. This seminar is educational and will not promote sales of any kind. Please join us so that you are prepared for any changes to your prescription benefits, office visits, choice of physicians, etc. Please feel free to bring a friend or neighbor, if you wish. Everyone is welcome!
go pink sunday
This coming Sunday, October 13th is Go Pink Sunday when we pause to remember those dear to us lost to breast cancer, and to celebrate those who’ve won their battles and survived. Please wear pink to church in acknowledgement of these brave women. We ask that our survivors come to our Philoptochos table for a token of our support during coffee hour immediately following liturgy.
general meeting
We will also be holding a General Meeting on Sunday, October 13th immediately following coffee hour fellowship in the Annunciation Room. Our agenda is short this time, but important. We will do our best to move through the items quickly. Your opinion and participation is important. I look forward to seeing your there!
hurricane helene hygiene kits
Per the suggestion of His Eminence Constantine, our chapter will be assembling 100 Hygiene Kits for Hurricane Helene Survivors on Sunday, October 20th immediately following coffee hour fellowship in the Board Room. Please join our assembly line so that we can complete this project quickly and get the items off to those in need. We are working in concert with the IOCC to assure that these supplies are distributed quickly and efficiently.
change of date for thanksgiving luncheon
In order to adhere to the Lenten calendar more strictly as requested by His Eminence Constantine and Father Jordan, we have moved the date of our Thanksgiving Luncheon to Tuesday, November 12th. Please plan to join us then beginning at 12:00 PM for our festive holiday meal and tribute to our parish veterans. RSVP to Klea Kappos – 720.979.9520 or Faith Ioannides – 303.909.1685.
successful new member orientation
We were delighted to host a group of our new members for orientation last week. We are truly fortunate to have them onboard!
